Iván Mora: nou professor titular al Departament de Física de la UJI

El doctor Iván Mora Seró serà des d’aquest curs professor titular de la Universitat Jaume I. Abans d’aquest nomenament el Dr. Mora ja treballava com a professor des de l’any 2002 amb contractes com a ajudant, ajudant doctor i amb un contracte Juan de la Cierva.

La gran experiència que té en el camp de la investigació van fer d’Iván un magnífic candidat per a aquest càrrec a la UJI. Amb tan sols 36 anys aquest doctor en Física ja té 66 publicacions a revistes i un llibre publicat, ha col•laborat en quasi 30 projectes d’investigació i ha participat en més de 50 congressos internacionals. Amb totes aquestes referències, indubtablement, es tot un honor per al Departament de Física tindre a Iván com a un més.

L’especialitat d’Iván son les cèl•lules solars sensibilitzades amb punts quàntics, un treball que té molt d’impacte en les industries energètiques actualment. Es obvi que encara falta molt a fer en el camp de l’energia fotovoltaica, però també, hi ha un gran interès ambiental en desenvolupar aquest treball. Açò es un incentiu més per a continuar investigant i aconseguir complir les expectatives de desenvolupar cèl•lules solars millorades que siguen molt eficients i barates.

Actualment, el Dr. Mora ensenya alguns dels coneixements de la seua especialitat en l’assignatura “Nanofísica” que forma part del Màster Interuniversitari en Nanociència i Nanotecnologia Molecular. A més d’això, imparteix classes de física general als graus de Enginyeria Elèctrica, Enginyeria Química i Enginyeria Agroalimentària i del Medi Rural.

Per a Iván, ser professor titular de la UJI representa tota una motivació per compartir els coneixements de ciència. A més, aquest nou lloc de treball li aporta, per fi, una esperada estabilitat a la seua tasca investigadora.

“High-Efficiency Solar Cell with Earth-Abundant Liquid-Processed Absorber”

IBM has built a solar cell — where the key layer that absorbs most of the light for conversion into electricity, is made entirely of readily-available elements — that set a new world record for efficiency and holds potential for enabling solar cell technology to produce more energy at a lower cost. Comprised of copper (Cu), tin (Sn), zinc (Zn), sulfur (S), and/or selenium (Se), the cell’s power conversion demonstrates an efficiency of 9.6 percent — 40 percent higher than the value previously attained for this set of materials. The new solar cells are also cheaper to manufacture, using a “printing” technique that uses a hydrazine solution containing copper and tin with nanoparticles of zinc dispersed within it. The solution is then spin-coated and heat treated in the presence of selenium or sulfur vapor.
